Flipchart Scriptures

This is what we are doing this year for our scripture memorization. When the page is flipped I will copy the last scripture on this page onto the next, then once a week we'll read through all of them. Yes, I do have to write it once a week but I decided it was best to see them all for a while than to just keep one on the board and replace it each week.

This could also be done on poster board or a table-top flipchart. I attempted the index card memory box system and it just didn't work for us, I may try it again but here's the link for those still seeking a system for your memory work.

If I were to try the memory box system again I would use tabbed business card sheet protectors and put in a notebook. Can you tell the wheels are turning?

I used posterboard for ours in K and just left them up all year (blessed with a lot of white wall space!). Being very visual, I like the idea of having things constantly displayed--if something's in a notebook, we have to open the notebook and find it intentionally each time to review. If it's up on the wall (bathroom mirror, back of the door, over the bed on the ceiling, etc!) we will see it over and over during the day and memorizing it seems easier!
Also, I cut apart the posterboard at the end of the year and made a large book. I made a cover of the same size and bound the book with metal rings. Dd colored the cover and put stickers around the verses. Now we review it from time to time.
I think I'll do the same this year in a smaller format.

WOW! That's perfect! I've been trying to devise a memory system, and I didn't like the SCM index card box idea because it would be spilled in my house by a curious toddler who appears to be part tree frog as he was found scaling a bookcase today. I think I'll modify your idea further and just print verses and other things to memorize on separate sheets of paper and use a large binder with many dividers - or maybe a notebook with photo pages that will hold index cards.

Good morning! Gow are you?

Oh the index card system hurts my brain! Good for you wanting to tackle it! I just can not wrap my pea brain around it....although "in my mind" I would love to do it..... *Ü*

Love the flip chart idea.... truly my cup o tea..... I was able to buy a flip chart stand like the one in the picture and it is proving to be a wonderful resource for both my girls....

So thanks for the link some time back for the school supply store that sells them! *Ü*

I love mine...

This is a great idea! Thanks for sharing it. Now I need to decide between a flip chart and a notebook. Hmm....
